The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6″ Soft/FX 1/2 Filter can be applied to purposely reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits or to apply a general soft-focus effect while maintaining overall sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed within the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.
This filter has a grade of 1/2. Grades of 1/8, 1/4, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are also available where this filter type’s effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around highlights can be created to further enhance a subject’s appearance or produce a desired effect.
This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 4mm-thick, 6.6 x 6.6″ rectangular filters. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

SWIT S-2241 On-Camera LED Light
The S-2241 Bi-Color On-Camera LED Light with Sony NP-F battery mount from SWIT features 153 ultra-bright, surface-mounted LEDs. It comes with a polycarbonate diffuser that attaches on the front of the light fixture via magnets. The diffuser helps generate an equally spread, glareless light for close interview and professional film lighting. This LED light offers a 120° wide beam angle with a half-declined beam at 68°, an illumination of 640 lux at 3.3′, and a CRI rating of 92. The light output can be adjusted from 10 to 100% with the onboard dimmer. The color temperature can also be continuously adjusted from 3200K to 5600K via the knob on the rear panel.
The LED light comes with an interchangeable, snap-on Sony NP-F type battery plate that accepts Sony NP-F970 and NP-F770 batteries, and SWIT S-8972, S-8970, and S-8770 batteries. It operates on 6 to 17 VDC wide voltage input, which can be supplied from 7.2V camera batteries. It can also accept power from D-Tap power output sockets, such as 14.4V V-mount or Gold mount batteries, battery plates, or camera handles using the included D-Tap cable. The light can be mounted on a tripod via a 1/4″-20 screw head, and can be fixed on the camera with the cold-shoe mount ball head.
Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizer Filters – Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
If you’re out walking on a lovely day – in the mountains or at the beach – and you want to get a fabulous shot of a cloud-filled sky or make the water seem more saturated, then a polarizer is the way to go. This filter is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. You can also use this filter when shooting into glass or windows since it will, again, either increase or decrease reflections.
If you’re shooting black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try throwing on a #25 Red filter. The vista will take on the appearance of an imminent, ominous storm.
Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone’s gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing color saturation.
